What Is a Silent Luxury?
RELATING TO ASTROLOGY
Q:What Is a silent luxury?
A: Moments ago I laid down on my floor and let every part of me sink into the gravitational pull toward earth. As I was scanning my body, I could clearly feel the areas of tension accumulated from holding myself upright, not to mention the impact of the stresses of daily life. Lying in the horizontal plane is not something I have done much of these past few months as I’ve been sleeping in more of a meditative posture and not by choice. It has been wild to witness the fury of my body undergoing duress as I continue to be processed in the meat grinder of life. Ok, a little dramatic but sometimes it feels like that and it is better to laugh with a twist of dark humor (thanks Pluto) than to not laugh at all…
Knowing what is occurring in your personalized astrological weather is beneficial in order to gain an understanding of what and why things are happening in the way they do. It doesn’t take the transits away or truly lessen the challenge but this knowledge does provide stamina and endurance. For example, when I am undergoing difficult transits I rest on the clarity that I receive by reading the stars. Everything is written there, past, present, future, inside out, and upside down, it is there. This is not something to deny or escape because in reality you can’t, though you might try by avoidance, disbelief, skepticism, ignorance, etc.
I’ve been learning this language for two decades and I am still learning with a fervor. In fact, I am entering into a beginner's mind phase by turning my knowledge on its head by learning from a completely new perspective. I hope this helps to stretch my brain into unfathomable new realms of possibility and thought…let’s see haha. Regardless, I am in awe and reverence of this cosmic poetry that is purely mathematical, psychological, and enigmatic in nature. Despite what anyone says, if you learn to read the stars, there is a threshold of skepticism upon which you cannot backtrack. Even for the doubting Thomas’s of the world, if you come to understand this gift for yourself, you cannot “return to sender” (whether it’s “good news” or “bad news”).
GOOD VS. BAD ASTROLOGY?
In actuality, there is no “good” or “bad” news in astrology. It is not our job to be the judge of whether something is happening in our favor in such simplistic terms. For example, a situation may look really bad at the moment only to present itself as the impetus for the most profound gifts of your life which you wouldn’t trade for the world. Can you think of some of those for yourself? Really hard life lessons and circumstances that have made you who you are today, resilient and courageous in heart? I can.
The flip side can also be true. Think of a relationship for example in which you were certain that you were in love and this person was your soulmate only to have been brought to your knees in complete agony, destroyed, and weakened, tasked with the job of rebuilding yourself from scratch. Many of us have been there if we’ve explored this area of life. But even in the darkness of those interpersonal lesions, healing, and grace can be found. So...who’s to say what is “good” and what is “bad”? For me, attempting to label any experience within the limitations of a dichotomy is the result of laziness. To those who suffer from black-and-white thinking I say, go further, expand the breadth of what is possible for yourself in the contemplative and philosophical stratosphere of nuance. This is where the possibility originates!
ASTROLOGY AS A TOOL
Astrology is a tool that illuminates inner knowing and requires reverence to be able to read between the lines. Otherwise, it can become diluted, trivial, or worse, black magic. And it is a gift that bears fruit over time. For those of you who have received readings from me, I would love to hear how these seeds have grown over the days, months, and years of your life. And from those who have learned from me and are now venturing into reading charts of your own, I wish to offer a word of discernment. Some of you have spoken with me at length and I appreciate the mutually established respect, others have taken flight without much communication and it feels important to mention...with this art comes responsibility, and with responsibility comes karma. It is imperative to understand the dynamics that are created from this language and the long-lasting impacts of this knowledge on all levels. True astrology is not a hobby, a game, or entertainment. When it becomes so, it can actually impede real inner work.
Meanwhile, back at the homestead, I’m experiencing a plethora of Plutonian, Saturnian, and Chironic themes in my personal astrological roadmap, and I may just be getting the depths and severity I need to heal the core wounds that until now have not had the privilege of seeing the light of day. It isn’t pretty but healing often isn’t, and though I sometimes feel identified with the misery my body is enduring, I am reminded of the temporary nature of things and the blessings that follow the juxtaposition of fortitude and acceptance. Just lying in the horizontal plane doing absolutely nothing and feeling the weight of my body drifting into the earth is indeed a new favorite silent luxury that I will not take for granted from now until the end of my days…
