Q: Astrology for Your Psychology?
A: If you really knew me, you’d know that I spend a significant amount of time traversing the inner realms of my psyche. I am not speaking only of traditional meditation techniques or purely psychedelic journeys but rather observing myself—specifically, my thoughts, emotions, actions, etc. at every moment I recall. Some days are more profound than others, and sometimes, I truly source gold. Why do I do this? And what could be more interesting than the world around me?
Incredible teachers have graced my path, and my dearest ones are no longer embodied. Their legacy lives on through their words and the fruits of their labor as developed in their students. One such fruit is the gift of practicing self-awareness and the arduous adventure that it truly is. There may be many doorways to knowing thyself, and staying vigilant as a witness to my inner process has been my gravitational pull.
Meditation is an integral part of self-observation, and meditation in action is how you walk through the world to keep a pulse on the inner mechanisms of your mind throughout your day. So, what does astrology have to do with this? Astrology is not just for fun, although it can be. It isn’t just a crystal ball for fortune telling and to base your decisions upon what you find, although you can. Astrology is also a map, a tool for self-awareness, and a gateway into further realms of consciousness.
THE UNIVERSES WITHIN AND WITHOUT
The stars and the planetary bodies are Storytellers and Gatekeepers, Lords of Realms and Archetypes. They are Beings of light and cosmic stardust. Within the Universe, are infinite stars, and within every star exists cosmic consciousness. Within the human being exists a universe (and within the universe, are infinite stars, and within every star exists cosmic consciousness). See where I am going with this? Inside every human being are star seeds exuding cosmic consciousness for you to discover. And astrology is a way in.
As above, so below, as within, so without. The human being is a living universe, and a mirror of the above, just as “the above” mirrors and reflects the inner processes. Oneness is not just a new age term of endearment. Interconnection is a radical reality; the more you open yourself to the potential that lives inside you, the more the magic reveals itself.
Every planet rules a part of your body, a facet of your psyche, and a kingdom worth exploring as do the signs, and the houses of the birth chart. Fractals of knowledge kaleidoscope through your knowing to the extent as studied, remembered, and embodied. Astrotherapy, in the way that I practice it, is designed to illuminate paths of knowing that complement any inner work you may already be actively engaged in, or pave paths not yet discovered.
