What Do You Think?

SCORPIO, THE ULTIMATE TRANSFORMER

Q: What Do You Think?

A: For me, it isn’t so much about what I think, it’s about what I do with those thoughts. Do I believe them? Follow their every whim across a spectrum of belittlement to grandiosity? Through my personal excavation of thought, many different thinkers are vying to shout into the microphone of my inner ear. Haven’t I learned already that having free will is a crucial component to liberating myself from these internal grade school theatrics? Maybe not if I haven’t been humbled enough to offer my free will as a gift to the only one who deserves it…

The moon is in Scorpio as I write this. We are inside the threshold of a powerful eclipse window on this full moon squaring Saturn. Scorpio is the ultimate transformer of the zodiac, the archetype which holds the secrets of our shame and most painful insecurities. Scorpio rules our sexuality, our ability to transmute the lurking darkness into brilliance embodied. There is an invitation here to witness our lineage of old while recreating and birthing a new legacy if we dare.

PATTERNS AND BEHAVIORS

With so many opinions shouting into the world sphere, it can be challenging to attend to what the true message of your soul has to say. This eclipse has a forcing function to it, a powerful severity that, when wielded with grace, can actually disrupt the destructive patterns and behaviors that have kept you in the dark. Maybe this is the time to turn off the news, your phone, and other sources of external influence and sink into the depths of yourself? Go in with reverence, humility, and great care, and perhaps you shall find what you seek.

This particular eclipse is much more than what meets the eye. I love how it expands upon the multi-dimensional elements of what encompasses astrology as a whole. The karma, the dharma, archetypes, psyche, the physical, emotional, mental, & spiritual bodies, past, present, future, what is known, what is unknown, paths of healing, warnings, insights, and blessings.

DEATH AND REBIRTH

With a square to Saturn, we can expect a karmic power behind this moment. Ripples reach into the past as roots to drink from, nourishing the present with its memories and historical truths. The future is the blossom born from the alchemy of water transmuted into earth and thus birth. What flowers are blooming in your moment of life? Are they annuals or perennials? Is this a lesson for today or for the ages that you will carry into the rest of your life? Pay close attention to what is dying and what you are dying toward. With Scorpio and Saturn in the house, there is death. And with every death, a birth.

Beyond planets there are stars, and the malefic star Algol (Medusa’s head), is conjunct our eclipse tonight. For me, this points to personal responsibility. Only Perseus could slay Medusa, the fallen Goddess that mirrored the many facets of his own ego. However, he could not do this alone and was gifted armor and weapons from the Gods to protect him and carry him to victory. This is a great metaphor for us on this day. There is a battle to endure, and yet we need a power that is higher and greater than ours alone to take us across this bittersweet threshold. Bitter because death is bitter and sweet because liberation is the honey of the divine.
