Did Someone Say Shadow?
Q: Did Someone Say Shadow?
A: Ode to Scorpio
From the silken midnight waters
To the fire within the darkness
A poisonous dart of passion
Questionable acts of the heartless
There is a rumble from the depths
And truth seekers continue on
Regardless of discomfort
They persevere until the dawn
The shadow invites us in
And it isn’t all that’s nice
Time to look and not avoid
Deconstructing from the vice
Epic night sweats and daydreams
Lure the sane into a frenzy
Upheaval all around
Despair and tears from the unfree
Sarcophagus from Egypt’s day
Reminder of regal death
Scarab crawling out to play
And forcing a last breath
The ego has a chance to die
Yet before it can escape
There has to be betrayal of self
And a shape shifter changing shape
It is the great illusionist
We think it is who we are
Identification with our self
The unruly and bizarre
Twisted brooding echelons
Of innately rotting wood
The inner planes have hell realms too
More than you’d like to see or should
On the subject of liberating mind
I’ve yet to find another way
Although it may seem melancholic
To crawl from dark night into day
For honesty is the chosen path
Within myself and with God
There is no way around this
Except a life of intrinsic fraud
Oh, Scorpio sear my flesh
And torture that which is not true
Pull me, quarter me, terrorize the false
And invite me to breakthrough
Your gift is to die and be reborn
A swim through the underworld
Not for the faint of heart I’ll say
Just for the roses yet unfurled

One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The latter procedure, however, is disagreeable and therefore not popular.
