What Have You Learned in 2019?

The lessons of this year are still arriving by the truck full over here, how about you? Maybe the question is more of “What Was Easy in 2019?” The answer, nothing. Entire towns have been engulfed in flames, continuous mass murders proliferate at gunpoint, and the earth is on the brink of an unrecognizable landscape. Our heartbreaks are only deepening at the loss of what has been and now we find ourselves hard at work to face new inconceivable realities. I sense this thematic experience of being jolted into unforeseen new territories as one felt by many in the realms of health, family dynamics, politics, and the environment etc.

What Is Death?

Do you know the sensation of sinking into the earth without a return in sight? When your skin feels as if it is rotting, molting off of itself, and staleness casts a shadow over the moment of what has been? Caught within the transit of dying while still breathing...perhaps through a breakup, a swift change, remorse, pain, surrender, purification, clarity, renewal, and so it goes around and around.

Are You Monogamous?

Yes. In past chapters of my life, I may have moved from one relationship to another with little room to breathe in between. Now, I hold that time between dear, and sometimes I think I am holding on to it perhaps a bit too tight, not truly wanting to let go of my coveted independence once again. Once I do, this next time around will be different than the last, for sure.

What’s Your Next Move?

Inward bound. I am feeling the gravitational pull into the cocoon of solstice days ahead. For the last three deep winters, I’ve found myself drawn into the Northwest Isles of Canada. It is a land and sea governed by eagles, whales, and mossy mounts of rugged terrain. There is a sweetness, as well as a majesty that has seeped into my soul, is relentless with my heart, and calls me back as if a siren’s song. The allure is profound and it is there that I find myself burrowing into my own unfathomable inner sunlit landscapes beyond time and space.

Did Someone Say Shadow?

Ode to Scorpio ~

From the silken midnight waters

To the fire within the darkness

  A poisonous dart of passion

Questionable acts of the heartless

There is a rumble from the depths

And truth seekers continue on

  Regardless of discomfort

They persevere until the dawn

  The shadow invites us in

And it isn’t all that’s nice

Time to look and not avoid

Deconstructing from the vice

How Are You Preparing for the Next Decade?

Well, first I am in a deep review of the last one. Hmmm, definitely the most powerful, excruciating, inside-outing, heart-pounding, mind-riveting adventure thus far. I continue to peel back the layers of my psychic skin to see what residue has formed over this time from the consequences of my past actions. I’ll tell you, It isn’t pretty. Yet the more band-aids I rip off, the better I feel…eventually.

What Do You Regret?

If there is ever a time for this state of being, it is after not listening to my own intuition and inner guidance. I used to live with a very confident personal clause of ‘never having any regrets’. Yet upon further investigation, it simply wasn’t true. And in actuality, there are many more than I would prefer to admit.

Perhaps it is due to the reality that I am not as conscious as I would like to be. That much of my day is still under the influence of a waking sleep of which I have much less control over my own thoughts, emotions, actions, and words than I would hope. As I write this, I am truly curious...after decades of inner work and process, some years stronger than others for sure, just how much of my mind is still unconscious versus conscious?

What’s at Stake?

Everything. From our inner peace to a piece of land, what was once fertile ground is now in a state of desertification. I just finished watching my brother Ryland and the crew of Kiss The Ground’s long-awaited and perfectly timed documentary*. Following the pre-screen viewing, I am left with a sensation of possibility and rebirth amidst the dire straits of these times we barely know we are inherently facing.

Are You on the Trajectory of the Churn?

If I am a human being on planet earth nearing the new decade of 2020, then there is no way that I am not churning, deeply. And for those of you who are not “in the churn” according to your personal opinion…I respectfully disagree, from my perspective…you are.

What does it mean to be on this trajectory of sorts? From over here, it seems that we are all being fortified, tested, and squeezed if you will. It is up to each of us to approach this consciously or unconsciously. When we have an opportunity to have foresight, it would behoove us to listen rather than dismiss. However, history has shown us that as stubborn as we are as a species, we generally do not learn until we are in a retrospective mood.

What is Your True North?

When asked this question by a dear friend in her effort to lend support at a moment of crossroads, I immediately went to the page. What is my true north? As an astrologer, I tend to think of the nodes, north, and south. Our lunar nodes in our birth chart reach to the furthest ends of the spectrum, stretching from who and where we have been into who we are becoming and to where we shall go. They bookend a life of purpose, indicating a hero’s/heroine’s journey of deep inner learning, full of trials, cyclops, sirens, and detours along the way.

What Does Partnership Look Like to You?

We have entered into the autumnal season, where the fruit is ripe on the vine and the winds are stirring. Change is everywhere and decisions are to be made. The weighted balance of dual nature is reflected in that of man and woman, hot and cold, near and far. Tis the season to explore the equilibrium of life. Libra asks, “To be or not to be?” and the skillful initiate knows the answer at any cost.

Does the Equinox Reflect a Pause?

Imagine ‘Balance’ in your mind. What do you see? A spoon on someone’s nose? A yogi in seated meditation? A scale in perfect harmony? Equinox comes from the deliciously intricate Latin word aequinoctium, meaning equal nights. This time of year, for a moment in time we have a 12-hour day with respect to a 12-hour night. And thus, the balance is but a pause in time, a gasp of breath…exhaling into the walk towards winter.

Have You Noticed?

Although every day reveals such utter miracles and complexities, I have noticed a few things about life recently - all drawing toward one simple truth in my heart. Everything is possible in love, in true love that is. In the highest form of love...in the love that pulses in our veins, that radiates from our eyes as beings, that created every cell in our body, that nourishes us with rain and sun, this love. In this love, everything is possible.

What Does This Moment Say to You?

It’s a mixed bag baby, it’s a mixed bag. Politics have become mere entertainment, resembling a badly written horror flick that doesn’t end well and yet hope does exist in the hearts of many people I know, including my own. Perhaps beyond hope there is a subtle hum from the most High, a resonance of faith that induces love to spread amongst ourselves as a lasting antidote to the current disasters we are facing.

What is the Source of Your Energy?

As the summer sun kisses the skin and encourages water-drenched days, the alchemy of water and light infuse the inner garden of mitochondria within my cells. Could it be true that each one of us has a set amount of energy for the span of our life and when we run out, we die? Some believe this and that the extent to which we can live in full vitality is to the extent in which we preserve and collaborate with our personal source of energy.

Why Is Your Jaw Dropped?

Anyone else out there feeling like you are growing and churning from the inside out? And although painful, there is some sweetness knowing that it is for the benefit of your future and all of your relations? Me too. Something around these current moon cycles has left a lasting impression upon my psyche in a way I haven’t experienced in many years if ever, truly.

Today’s full moon in Aquarius continues to fortify the unpredictability of the current cosmic mirror. Both Venus and Mars are in opposition to this fullness providing deep inner tugs onto our moods, temper and relationships. Pluto is in the mix, quincunx to the Sun/Venus and the light reflected by this potent moon, asking us to reconcile what is lurking under our friendships and intimate relationships.. This dynamic brings forth the complexities that have been brewing below the surface seeking karmic resolution. Ultimately the challenge is to look within ourselves, assess our own projections onto others, and notice what we notice at a time when the energy is so expansive and outwardly dominate.
