What’s at Stake?

Q: What’s at Stake?

A: Everything. From our inner peace to a piece of land, what was once fertile ground is now in a state of desertification. I just finished watching my brother Ryland and the crew of Kiss The Ground’s long-awaited and perfectly timed documentary*. Following the pre-screen viewing, I am left with a sensation of possibility and rebirth amidst the dire straits of these times we barely know we are inherently facing.

Knowing Ryland and his family for about 15 years, I am so inspired by the message they bring forth from their hearts. One of wisdom; ground in practice, generosity, and a lot of grace, as they traverse the topics of food, farming, and activism with finesse. I’ve witnessed them receive everything from accolades to bomb threats for their work, and nothing seems to deter the clear and pure mission of service to the whole.

Kiss The Ground was birthed from a seed of inner experience that radiates new possibilities for our relations as humans to our blessed home, Earth. We can be educated, inspired, moved to take action, and make change with communal effort leading the charge. There is no beating around the bush, if we don’t step up and educate ourselves the future is bleak. Instead, let’s learn…together, and KTG provides a natural stride in the direction of hope.

If the state of the earth is a mirror of our mind, please watch this movie and then contemplate our inner reality as a species. Yep, there is work to be done. Can we utilize the radical moment of environmental and climate chaos as a red alert indicating a true need for our focus and attention? Where have we been aloof? Or perhaps hoping that ‘someone’ will save us at some point.

Perhaps it will be in the coming years that our mental emergency will meet that of our environmental holocaust and we shall be forced to reckon ourselves into a new world. My challenge to us today is, instead, let’s be proactive, do our part, and do the inner work we are privileged to be able to do. Please support KTG to regenerate our future and if interested in changing your mind, check out the work of Joan of Sparc where we are also planting seeds…for a revolution in consciousness.

*The film will be released in 2020 so stay tuned! Until then the book is available now and on audible. For more information and educational media, please check out kisstheground.com.
