What is Your True North?

Q: What is Your True North?

A: When asked this question by a dear friend in her effort to lend support at a moment of crossroads, I immediately went to the page. What is my true north? As an astrologer, I tend to think of the nodes, north, and south. Our lunar nodes in our birth chart reach to the furthest ends of the spectrum, stretching from who and where we have been, into who we are becoming and to where we shall go. They bookend a life of purpose, indicating a hero’s/heroine’s journey of deep inner learning, which may be full of trials, cyclops, sirens, and detours along the way.

My north node happens to land in Libra and by sharing this, any astute astrologer or even a casual, yet explorative, student of the stars will immediately know my lesson is to learn how to come into a balanced relationship with others. How to partner. How to experience another without giving too little or too much of myself. Having a south node in Aries means I know all too well how to ‘go it alone’, endure with self-reliance, power through situations, and at worst, losing sight of taking account of the whole.

So here I am, as well as my entire global high school graduating class of 96’ (and half of 95’), to commit and embrace the power of partnership without wanting to run for the hills.

On another related note, while in the search for my north node, I am truly in awe of the power of a question. Obviously, I have an affinity for them as I journal through questions every week. Yet when confronted with a proposition recently, through self-observation, I realized the power of a question to turn us inside out and shake out what isn’t serving. I’ve been in this space for over 10 days. Shaken, stirred, and yes, somewhat inside out. I’ve had to respond to this question with more questions, both inside myself and to the questioner at hand. It hasn’t been a comfortable journey, to say the least, yet growing I certainly am.

Am I prepared to sacrifice my current personal vision to now cooperate with another? Can I indeed learn to collaborate in a way that eventually illuminates a win-win without truly losing my identity, as I have before? My fears of giving up my power have surfaced with a vengeance, creeping in to remind me how far I have come yet still tying me to a brutal memory of a recent past of oppression.

‘Ciela,’ I remind myself…‘you are not your past. You are your present, and in this present, you are free. You have learned, you have dissolved, you have recreated anew. And now you may be able to rise up, again, and in partnership much different than you have ever known. Stay humble, stay true, stay aligned with the clarity of your heart. Learn, bow in reverence, and feel your way for the road is long yet, and the lessons are destined before you.’

My true north shines in the realm of my Lord. A bright light calls me from the Libran horizon, inviting me into relationships that heal my aching soul, both in love and in work. Trust is my guiding light and intuition my golden path. Stay on the gold. Listen deeply. Activate your higher knowing. Listen. Listen. Listen.

Galvanize a community of inspired beings to co-create a new world together. This is my future, my mission, and my north star. Inspired. To breathe. To breathe in the light. To breathe in the light of God and to remember who we are. This is my true north and I am on course. May I stay aligned with my truth forevermore. May I rise beyond the challenges that test my resolve. May I surrender my ego to open and receive the wisdom inside the pain. May I walk, step by step, towards this north star that radiates as a cosmic fire from within my own soul. And my wish for you is the same, may you live and breathe into every moment as one step closer to becoming who you truly are.
