Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Original

Q: Are You Afraid of the Dark?

A: Fear comes in many forms, energetics, and textures. Fear’s greatest dominating power is literally fueled by the fact that it requires us to feed it, and we do. The moment we face it, the terror ceases to exist in its previous form and shapeshifts into something new. From there onward, we are educated with information unknown to us before and have begun the process of reclamation.

Our current eclipse season kicks off, illuminated by a Gemini full moon and the tension between our heavenly perspectives (higher mind/Sagittarius) and any habitual tendencies to revel in our old ways of thinking. Creativity is heightened and yet the outcome is far from view within the pinball aspects of today’s chart. Moon Quincunx Venus and Sun Quincunx Uranus will leave us reeling in unrequited yearning and restlessness of being. Venus in Scorpio, opposite Uranus in Taurus, perpetuates a riveting and unsettled energetic in our relationships, finances, and (lack of) sense of security. The undercurrent is strong as our shadows of doubt are brought into view through the power of these transits. Where are you wavering?

With daring uncertainty in the air and such frenetic energy at the helm, anxiety and trepidation could surface or perhaps hesitantly pulse beneath the skin. Fear can debilitate us if we don’t see it for what it is beyond the facade of its duplicity.

In a recent meditation, I was guided into my fear. It went something like this... Not quite a poem, nor a story. Listening reveals amidst the eclipse...

Are you afraid of the dark?

My inner voice whispers…

Emerald eyes pierce the blackness,

My heartbeat rapid, enduring otherwise silence.

A large midnight panther emerges,

Slinking into the moonlight eclipse.

Her musculature and prowess,

Announced by her graceful moves.

I try to fear her...

Yet her beauty dissolves me.

She purrs an electric upright bass

As her body wraps around me.

I must stand like a tree,

Solid and rooted while she unwinds my thoughts.

Panther nudges me and the wind roars.

Her obvious love steals my heart.

“There is nothing to fear,”

Her wisdom penetrates my soul.

“I am your liberation…

Face me and there within lies your freedom.”

Leaping into the meadow of my dreams,

I follow her as she rolls between the flowers.

Led to a sphere of golden light,

I bow to enter, and there, find myself.

My inner child within, reaching towards me...

I hold her 6-year-old hand.

We heal together.

Her fingers fall into mine with great ease.

Her vitality enlivens my cells,

So young and vibrant,

Yet already struck by pain.

We are one.

Before my eyes,

She becomes my elder.

The wisdom pours through my future self,

With a gift for me to receive

She places a clear marble in my palm,

Immediately ballooning into a crystal ball.

“This is my memory…

And now it is your vision.

Remember your future well my dear

It is yours to live…

You were born for this.”

We cannot change the world until we accept we are the world. This is the new conversation.
