The Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing but the Truth, So Help Us, God?
Q: The Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing but the Truth, So Help Us, God?
A: This is a powerful inquiry, Truth, approached throughout the ages by philosophers who have assisted in paving neural pathways of thought for us to reflect upon and assess our own groove. On this Leo full moon with a trine from Mars, we have the propulsion to take action from the heart, in other words with courage. And what is more courageous than living our truth?
How do we navigate this topic in an era of false facts? Perhaps the question is how do we choose not to? Clearly, we have graduated into a higher necessity of self-responsibility than ever before. While our context of ‘reality’ is constantly shape-shifting before our eyes as we witness the power to bend words, wash brains, and the use of propaganda is amplified throughout the social and traditional media universe, we return to the question of ‘where will we each land in our own truth’?
Those who intentionally manipulate and distort the truth to weave lies into a collective mind are wielding a dangerous game called ‘Playing God’ or exercising their megalomania. As witnesses to this both on the micro and macrocosmic stage, it is a potent moment when we are each called to review our personal truths. From where are we listening, thus from where are we living and being? Neptune forms a quincunx to this full moon highlighting the potential for deep confusion and lack of discernment. If we want to utilize this astrology for our personal development, we can observe the confusion that already exists within our psyche and work to navigate towards the powerful ground of inner knowing.
Perhaps the biggest issue is our own self-deception. This can be a hard pill to swallow, recognizing that we are responsible for the majority of our suffering and that this is due to our lack of honesty with ourselves. The inner work tends to be a process of peeling layers off the illusion we have co-created in order to ‘survive’ our formative years. We are literally liberating ourselves from ourselves. That in itself is worthy of a lifetime of contemplation.
Today we are being asked to change or else. Can you feel the increasing pressure upon what we have known to be ‘the way things have always been’ and yet we haven’t fully arrived at ‘the way things are now’? For example, there seems to be quite an anxious hovering over the slashing of our democracy and ideals. Simultaneously, many of us feel that those ‘ideals’ were simply in place as an avoidant response to what we didn’t want to acknowledge as malignant issues lying dormant underneath. Our democracy has been far from perfect although, sometimes, the status quo has been too comfortable. At this moment we are uncomfortable. And in the discomfort, we are forced to adapt and transform.
The origin of the word ‘truth’ spans between the Germanic landscapes of faithful, honor, and loyalty to the Sanskrit perspective of tree. It is a word full of virtue, promise and life-affirming properties. It is the container for our reality, and yet so deeply contested and debated.
Regardless of how much we intellectualize or philosophize this topic, Truth will always reveal itself. Given time, it inevitably rises to the surface like a whale from the depths, drinking in the air as it shows it’s power with grace and awe. Truth overcomes us, it is bigger than us, we may hide it or hide from it, yet eventually, we must face it.
There is no freedom without truth. There is no life worth living if we avoid it. Anything but the truth is a lie. Where do we find ourselves, our lives, our relationships to self and others on a spectrum between true and false? Are we alive? Or are we a lie?
If we can observe the present landscape with objectivity, there is a wildness in the air. Blustering winds of change are propelling and provoking those of us who hear this war cry of an invitation to reclaim ourselves. As the absurd claims itself to be ‘true’ the rational notions of morality beckon us towards the other shore to safety. This ‘other’ shore is connected with our inner knowing, our intuitive sense, our big T truth.
And thus, the moment of truth has arrived. It is time to face our self-deception, take responsibility and dive deep to do the dirty work we’ve been avoiding for too long. No one else can do this for us. There is no savior coming for you other than yourself. The good news? We have what we need inside of us to approach this arduous task. What is the answer amidst all of this madness? The truth shall set us free. And in our freedom, we shall dance…
