Q: What Can You do?

A: At this moment, as with any moment that I am conscious and aware, I can always, always listen. First, I listen to my heartbeat, and to the powerful voice of love that guides me toward my truth. And from there, I can listen to the many voices of my community who have fought hard to finally be seen, heard, and witnessed. There is no ‘easy’ about this moment, every single one of us is called to do our part. If we have been living in the shadows of our own shame, fear, and suffering, it is time to rise into healing. If we have been oppressed into a voiceless and shamed reality, it is time to rebel into action from our heart, if we have been an oppressor - consciously or unconsciously, it is time to recognize our weakness and ignorance. And most likely, if you are human, you can claim all of the above.

Now (and always) is a moment for #blacklivesmatter. Yes, and my heart is also full of anguish from the seething racism I continue to witness outside of the black/white dichotomy. Racism has deep roots, so vast within the psyche that span into lifetimes of entrainment. We repeat, again and again, the duality of ‘us’ versus ‘them’ in as many ways as we can creatively spin our dualistic nature. Why? And when will we learn our lesson?

Greed, pride, envy, wrath, gluttony, sloth, lust - each of these unconscious cancers within the collective and individual psyche are expressed upon the multiple faces, slurs, slogans, platforms, and campaigns that promote racism to live on. Racism is yet another excuse to turn away from our inherent truth of unity and to act out in life-deforming ways. In my own exploration of this rotten entanglement of the false personality, I dive deep into the searing, flesh-eating realm of pure hatred. Racism leads to the justification of murder, it always has, and to murder is to end life. There is nothing more pure, important, and real than that which is life.

What is this hatred telling me? Why does it exist within the hell realms of my soul? Hatred is the opposing force of love, way beyond the threshold of fear, hatred is the absolute denial of God, Truth, Love, and Life. Traveling into the depths of this despair, I witness hatred’s attempt to project itself upon everyone and everything else, not wanting to own the pain itself is causing. Does it all come back to projection? Are we so severely stunted in our own ability to take self-responsibility that we have to force blame? I can see the hatred from within seeking any opportunity to evade anything virtuous and so it is destructive in every form of expression.

These horrifying charnel grounds of discarded ‘self’ will never go away by themselves, just like there is no ‘away’ when we throw out the garbage. The illusion of ‘away’ means that we choose to avoid it and no longer have it within our sight, it ceases to exist and thus we continue to purchase plastic products that are polluting our reality. Similarly, we ignore(ance) our egoic unconscious mechanisms that are not only not ‘away’ they are a driving force of our unconscious life. The only hope we have is to courageously face the bitter truth within and expose it to the sunlight of the day, our conscious awareness. From there, we can heal as we observe ourselves, learn from our past, metabolize the pain, and make new decisions that forgo suffering for acceptance and liberation.

What we can do now is listen. There is a trepidatious forecast from the cosmic skies for this current eclipse season, indicating a time to take heed and be diligent of our actions. This Full Moon is marked by a T square formed of Martian arrows launched toward the Sun/Venus Conjunction in Gemini and the oppositional force of the penumbral lunar eclipse in Sagittarius. Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto huddle and observe from the sidelines, awaiting their next reveal. Anger, violence, and tension erupt as all of our relations are brought into the spotlight in order to force uncomfortable truths. Exactly.

Listen to the voices who have been marginalized for ages. Listen to our inner wisdom for ways to express and share solidarity with one another in this time of division. Listen to the voice of truth that radiates from the heart of our hearts and observe all the ways we can choose to change our own mind when offered this invitation for an internal revolution.
